Better late than never:

In June the University of Massachusetts at Amherst rescinded the honorary doctorate it had bestowed on [Robert Mugabe] Zimbabwe’s longtime president in 1986.

Here’s a blogger’s list of the 15 worst honorary degrees ever awarded. Some of the entries are debatable, but in my view these degrees are bad even when they’re good–colleges and universities should stop this nonsense.
UPDATE: A reader correctly points out that the blogger doesn’t list the “worst” honorary degrees, as I say above, but rather the most “controversial.” There’s a difference, of course. Sorry about that.
