Writing in the LA Times, Richard Sander and Vikram Amar, law professor both, think that the California State Bar ought to release bar exam information that would help to settle the argument over the impact of affirmative action in law schools. Read their piece here.
Thomas Sowell once wrote, “Before one can be a partisan of the poor, he must first be a partisan of the truth.” That statement applies to this controversy. If it turns out that racial preferences are actually harmful to their supposed beneficiaries, the advocates of preferences ought to say, “Well, then we’ve made a mistake and we’ll start pushing for schools to drop them.”
I don’t think that will ever happen.
