The Affirmative-Action Myth

In view of the arguments made against the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative, it is worth reading Marie Gryphon’s paper in which she demolishes the idea that affirmative action (i.e., racial preferences in college admissions) are beneficial, while pointing out that it does have some serious drawbacks.

Race preferences are lousy public policy that only appeal to people who don’t understand how the world works.
