‘American History by Google and Wikipedia’

In this week’s episode of InsideAcademia.tv Andy speaks with Mark Bauerlein about his recent talk in Princeton, “American History by Google and Wikipedia.” The talk was part of the summer program of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.

In approaching learning with an instant-oriented attitude and the tools to enable speedy fact finding, students often sacrifice depth and comprehensive understanding in their subjects. The mercenary approach to education supplants the scholarly attitude that creates opportunities for random learning.
