Ken Starr Likely to Resign

The big news in higher education today is that Baylor’s president, Kenneth Starr, is expected to resign because of the continuing controversy over the university’s failure to properly address sexual assaults by its football players.

Starr, the former independent prosecutor of Bill Clinton who is now a very popular president, was severely criticized earlier this month in a law firm report commissioned by the university board.

Writes Inside Higher Ed:

The Pepper Hamilton [the law firm] report, according to the sources, found that Starr encouraged a culture of second chances, while providing little oversight to the athletic department and the football team, and failed “to provide consistent and meaningful engagement with Title IX,” the federal antidiscrimination law that dictates how colleges should investigate and adjudicate cases of campus sexual assault.

Undoubtedly we will hear more.
