Boys Only

Here’s a story in the Indianapolis Star about Wabash College, one of only two all-men’s four-year colleges left in the country. The opening sentence describes something apparently unobjectionable: “Wabash College students must live by one command: Be a gentleman.” But there are rumblings on campus about the “old-fashioned traditions of the college,” and the worry that the male atmosphere doesn’t prepare the students for the diverse 21st-century workplace/society. And rumblings come from one group, and one alone–not the students, or the parents, or the alumni, or the administration, but, yes, the faculty.
