Bucking a Trend?

Purdue University, now headed by former Indiana governor and budget-cutter Mitch Daniels, has eliminated the position of chief diversity officer. The Lafayette Journal & Courier reports that the provost will now take on that role.

Inside Higher Ed contacted the president of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education, who didn’t like the change. “It’s like eliminating a chief financial officer and saying, the president will now oversee university finances,” said Benjamin D. Reese, Jr..
