California to Proceed with Unnecessary New Law School

The University of California is evidently going to override the judgment of a committee that found no need for another UC law school and will proceed with the creation of one at UC-Irvine.The sense all along is that this would be a very political law school and as this blog post indicates, the top candidate for the deanship is the hard-left activist Erwin Chemerinsky, currently on the faculty at Duke.
With the UC-Irvine law school, the state will expand in a way that will ensure still more expansion in the future, once the “public interest” lawyers it trains get to work. California: a dysfunctional state with a lot of nice scenery.
