I just got back from a fabulous event on Capitol Hill sponsored by Students for Saving Social Security. Over 300 students came out to hear speakers such as Senator Jim DeMint and leading Social Security policy experts and learn how to make a difference in this crucial policy debate. Seeing the enthusiastic crowd of students, I couldn’t help but be excited for the upcoming school year.
Here are some quick updates from right-of-center organizations that deal with the wild world of college campuses:
The Leadership Institutes’s Campus Leadership Program is expanding their field program to a whopping sixty field representatives this fall. LI field reps help students start independent, conservative groups and newspapers. More information available here.
Speaking of field programs, Students for Life of America is launching its first field program this fall, which, to my knowledge, is the first pro-life effort of its kind.
For students looking to get more involved on campus, keep an eye out on the soon to be released 2006-2007 Conservative Student Battle Plan from the Young America’s Foundation. It is a compilation of project ideas for campus conservatives. For example, a good event to kick off the school year is the 9/11 Never Forget Project.
