If you know any high school students who would like to put part of their summer to good use intellectually, CCAP has compiled a list of high quality programs and it’s posted on Forbes.
Among the programs are the Foundation for Economic Education’s introduction to the fundamentals of economics (no doubt a better course than most students will ever get in college), Ashland University’s program that focuses on American history and politics, Samford University’s Great Ideas Summer Institute, and Thomas More College’s great books program.
Students who attend such programs should probably never mention them if they want to apply to one of our “elite” schools, though. With the obsession over “community service” (see my post below), I suspect that it would be the reddest of red flags for a student to admit that he spent time learning about the principles of economics or reading books by dead white males.
