Childlessness and Education

Jonathan Last, writing at First Things and cited in an interesting article by Linda Chavez, points out that “‘the percentage of childlessness among women rises in a straight line with educational attainment.’”

Last made this observation with respect to the Palin vice-presidential bid:  

The Palin family’s five children would have been unexceptional 40 years ago, but today constitute something of a fertility freak show . . .  Sarah Palin – smart, accomplished, pretty, maternal and conservative — threatens the notion that there’s only one way to be a modern woman. Her political journey started in the PTA, not at Harvard or Yale Law School. 

Which is of course driving leftist feminists berserk.
