College for Everyone

John Edwards, trying desperately to get some traction with far-left voters, is talking about his raft of socialist schemes, including College for Everyone.
I don’t think it will do any good to tell him that higher education has been oversold, or that all his New Deal-inspired policies would send the economy into a tailspin. If Edwards had his way, the U.S. would come to resemble Britain ca. 1975 with capital fleeing, unemployment and inflation rising, and interest groups squabbling over a shrinking national output.
