Of Concerts and ‘Conscience’

In the wake of the April massacre at Virginia Tech, the campus is planning a concert so that its members “can come together to celebrate the spirit and resiliency of our university community,” said Charles Steger, President of Virginia Tech.
One of the musicians to be featured is Nas, whom a campus press release describes as, “some would argue, hip hop’s conscience.”
James Taranto dug a bit into this paragon’s work and came up with a hip hop piece titled “Shoot ‘Em Up” – which is ridden with obscenities and violence unfit to relate here.
Unfit, too – to put it mildly – for commemorating the carnage and suffering of that day in April.
