Defending Israel on Campus

A recent article by Richard L. Cravatts of Boston University defends those who answer some of the virulent criticism of Israel on college campuses today. Israel’s critics falsely claim that they are being “silenced” by defenders of the Jewish state.
Their criticism is often irrational, and when Israel supporters point out the fallacies, the critics claim to feel a “chilling effect” on their freedom to think stupidly, such as in believing that a sinister Jewish cabal is controlling U.S. foreign policy. What could be useful now is for some organization like the Intercollegiate Studies Institute to publish a Student’s Guide to the History of Israel, along the lines of their Student’s Guides to Philosophy, U.S. History, etc., to answer the myths that are purveyed on college campuses today.
