A Montgomery County, Md., judge has rebuffed an effort by Johns Hopkins University to dismiss a donor-intent case, reports the Washington Post. Hopkins has been trying to use a parcel of land, known as Belward Farm, as a centerpiece of a multi-billion-dollar mega-complex called Science City. But Elizabeth Banks’s heirs argue that Banks did not intend to have such a development built around her farm; she at most authorized a low-rise satellite campus. Of course, this could just be the beginning of a long period of litigation.
Hat tip to Martin Wooster, whose article on the Pope Center site gives the background.
