The Final Four — of College Chess!

Here is a delightful Washington Post story about collegiate chess, which has become surprisingly competitive. The author quotes Rich Vedder as saying that while college chess is a healthy, intellectual activity, we should hope that it doesn’t turn into an arms race the way big-time sports has. I doubt that we need to worry, but I’d welcome it.
