Furor Over Students Costuming, Graphically and With Bullet Holes, as VT Victims

Panty raids? Wrapping trees in toilet paper? Ancient and oh-so-boring playing out of student “rebellion.”
At a Halloween party, two Penn State students dressed as Virginia Tech shooting victims. What must they have been thinking? No doubt something like, “Here I am, cameras. Look at me, me, me.” “10 On Your Side,” a local news outlet, interviewed one of the students who wore the costume. He said “we have to do things that push the envelope just for shock value.”
Penn State officials said they were “appalled that these individuals would display this level of insensitivity, indifference, and lack of common decency and sense by dressing up in this manner … Just because something is within the bounds of the Constitution and free speech, does not mean it should be undertaken.”A Virginia Tech student has now created a Facebook group called, “People Against This Costume.” Good for the PSU administration and this student for speaking up. We could use more discussions of what constitutes common decency.

How Trump Should Approach the Final Debate

The so-called mainstream polls of the swing states show the race narrowing. If the trend continues at the current rate, President Trump could poll even in two weeks—in addition to the “other” polls that show him near there already. So Trump’s mission at the final debate on Thursday is to continue to ... Read More

Never before have the ... Read More

A Bizarre and Revealing Biden Interview

William Voegeli of the Claremont Review of Books brought up a strange Joe Biden interview from 1974 I hadn't seen before in which Biden emerges as arrogant and determined to make more money, one way or another. Biden also speaks of his first wife Neilia, who had died two years earlier, in unusually frank ways: ... Read More

A Few Cracks in the Progressive Wall

The contemporary progressive agenda — of, say, an Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, or Elizabeth Warren — has rarely appealed to 51 percent of the American electorate. Most polls show opposition to Court packing and the abolition of the Electoral College. Voters don’t seem to like ... Read More
