Giving

The Washington Post writes on trends in higher-ed philanthropy–donors who want more control over how their money is used. The article doesn’t say so directly, but a major cause of this shift is the Left’s takeover of the university, which has led to the slowly awakening realization among alumni and other givers that the people who run America’s colleges and universities today can’t automatically be trusted to spend their donations wisely:

“The new philanthropy is more like an investment than a gift,” McGuire said. “It’s a business transaction in a way it wasn’t even a few years ago.”
