Good diversity versus bad diversity at Dartmouth

My friend Robert Lerner makes a good point about the late unpleasantness at Dartmouth:  Why is it that the same folks who trumpet the wonders of diversity when it comes to race and ethnicity in student and faculty selection are so opposed to it when it comes to viewpoint diversity on a governing board?  Could it be because the former makes them feel all warm and fuzzy about themselves, and the latter would actually require them to justify their silly policies to skeptical and intelligent opponents?  Ya think?
