Guilt-Minded Educators, Anti-Americanism, and the Presidential Election

Michael Radu, Ph.D., Co-Chair of FPRI’s Center on Terrorism, Counterterrorism, and Homeland Security, has written a broad and penetrating analysis of the causes and manifestations of the the unprecedented level of anti-Americanism throughout the world in this current presidential campaign — and he does not spare educators for their role in generating this vitriol.

Among his insights is that anti-Americanism is not due to ignorance and the U.S.’s inability to make its case. Rather, he states:

America is known throughout the world, but it is the wrong America, that of its native critics and enemies, that is known: Hollywood movies obsessed with hatred for capitalism, the military and the CIA; Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore’s obsessive hatred of ordinary Americans and their elected representatives; idiotic rappers; and guilt-ridden academics.

Radu is not optimistic. Anti-Americanism, he concludes:

will continue to thrive unless the American public understands the problem—an unlikely prospect considering our educational establishment’s encouragement of national guilt. One of the most important, if not the most important, reasons for this is that it is largely cost-free.
