Hart on Freedman

Here’s NR senior editor Jeffrey Hart (also a Dartmouth English prof) on the legacy of Freedman, from NRODT in 1998:

Although Mr. Freedman made much of his supposed attachment to the First Amendment, he quickly precipitated a series of sharp collisions with Dartmouth conservatives whose exercise of free speech led them into political incorrectness.
