The Heat Is On

… when 50 or so college leaders acknowledge the possibility or likelihood that some of the same conflicts of interest discovered in the financial aid world exist in other university operations. This epiphany seems to have been sparked by recent revelations about possible commercial conflicts in study abroad programs, not to mention the student loan scandals, which one party present admitted to be “only the tip of the iceberg.”

The group apparently faced up to basic issues that have heretofore been ignored, namely,  the need for greater “transparency and disclosure” as well as “ethical ground rules.” It even plans to prepare “diagnostic questions” so that campuses can at least begin to ferret out potential conflicts.
