This brings to mind a couple of things. I was recently speaking with a senior partner in a big California law firm and asked him about hiring preferences. He said that he had little regard for Yale because the students are all full of useless legal theory and don’t know anything about actual lawyering.
The other thing is that if students could take the bar exam after only a year of study — everything of any importance is covered in the first year — many would never stick around to take courses in feminist legal theory and other sludge. They’d be better off, and most of the professors who make their careers teaching that stuff would have to find something else to do. A win-win.
