‘Heavy Editing’

In this article, emeritus professor Abraham Miller writes about the travesty of “heavy editing,” which means that a professor in effect writes a dissertation for a minority student.

The “soft bigotry of low expectations” can carry on even through grad school.

Professor Walter Williams has remarked that he’s glad he went to college “before it became fashionable for white people to like black people.” Miller’s piece shows exactly the kind of paternalism that Williams complains about.
