Higher Ed in the N.C. Gubernatorial Race

In a Pope Center piece, Jay Schalin takes a look at the approaches to higher ed of the two candidates for governor — Republican Pat McCrory and Democrat Walter Dalton — and finds a stark contrast. McCrory acknowledges that higher ed is going to have to live within the state’s limited means, while Dalton promises a return to the old days when higher education got everything it wanted from governors like Jim Hunt.
