A Highly Profitable Nonprofit

The president of the College Board, Gaston Caperton, makes about $1.3 million according to this Bloomberg story.

In a recent Pope Center piece, I wrote about Vance Fried’s paper on profitable nonprofits in the higher-education business, meaning the colleges and universities themselves. There are also profitable nonprofits on the periphery of higher ed.

A good CEO in business can easily be worth $1.3 million or more by making decisions that enhance the profitability of the enterprise. I doubt that it could be shown that Caperton has demonstrated such acumen in his position.
