The ‘Hottest’ Colleges

The Daily Beast lists the 15 “hottest” schools of the decade, with the University of Southern California, Vanderbilt, and the University of Indiana at Bloomington at the top. As one commenter says, “Are there any discernible criteria here?” And (the same person asks), “Is this based roughly on how much these schools are spending on marketing campaigns?” If there is any standard for selection, it seems to be schools that have experienced a rise in applications and therefore have become more selective. Otherwise, the list seems completely subjective — even less useful than U. S. News but a good marketing tool for the the Daily Beast.
