How Long Can You Protect a Bubble?

For several years now, the idea that we have created a higher-education bubble similar to the housing bubble has been gaining more and more attention. Since Obama and his allies benefit greatly from the mania for college attendance and credentialing, it stands to reason that they would like to prevent the bubble from bursting or even starting to deflate. My colleague Jay Schalin explores that possibility in today’s Pope Center Clarion Call.

Between subsidies for the status quo and bureaucratic obstacles put in the way of rising alternatives, there is plenty that a determined, unaccountable, and constitutionally unmoored presidency can do to help its friends. I think we will see such measures over the next four years.
