‘Humble Admissions’

Steven Roy Goodman, an independent college counselor, advises his clients to make a small error in their applications — accidentally on purpose. Even “a typo” will do, he told the AP.
What Goodman is rustling up is “authenticity” — the latest “hot” quality applicants must exude in the process of college admissions.
Students, in other words, are “to package themselves as unpackaged,” display a little “humility” by communicating just the right smidgeon of “disappointment” or “failure.”
Are prospective students now to be screened our for being too perfect? What, pray, will they think of next?
