If Obama Has Lost Senator Harkin…

In this new SeeThruEdu post, Lindsey Burke informs us that even dyed-in-the-wool leftist senator Tom Harkin sees the problems posed by Obama’s proposed college-rating system. Harkin understands that colleges and universities are not monoliths, but assemblages of courses and programs that vary tremendously in their educational value. So what good does it do to rate whole institutions?

I would say that if Obama has lost Senator Harkin, he’s not going to get his way on this college-rating scheme — unless, of course, he just does an administrative cram-down. Of course, there’s a lot of precedent for that.
