‘Investing’ in Higher Education

University of Chicago economic professor and 1992 Nobel Prize winner Gary Becker is famed for his work on the development of human capital. Sadly, though, he keeps asserting that higher education remains “a good investment” based on backward looking data that create a false impression. In a Minding the Campus post, I try to show his mistake.
