It’s All About Culture

I’m thrilled about last night — so thrilled I had trouble falling asleep — but at the same time, I’ve been around long enough to know that elections come and go, political fortunes wax and wane, but — ultimately — culture determines the fate of a nation. With rare exceptions, politicians reflect culture more than shape it, and true culture-makers are more likely to inhabit the academy than the Congress.

Here’s my quick take on our present cultural challenge.
