Phi Beta Cons

Life of the Party

Much thanks to Ramesh for speaking about his book at GW last night.  The lecture was first-rate, and I really can’t think of another that’s surpassed it.  While I might be somewhat biased in favor of Ramesh, all of my classmates in attendance agreed about how enjoyable and worthwhile class lectures might be if all of our professors approached their subjects with the same level of seriousness and insightfulness he does.

Any student group looking to inject a dose of sober-minded clarity into right to life debates should try to bring Ramesh to campus.  It’s a real tragedy that some have tried to discredit his book as extremist or partisan when, in fact, he deals with issues of abortion, embryo-destructive research and euthanasia by arguing his position with reason and prudence and acknowledging the political realities surrounding these issues with complete honesty.
Although I will admit that not all were swayed merely by Ramesh’s unimpassioned rationality.  Some of the ladies in attendance were so charmed that they were certifiably swooning over him when he was signing books at the end of the evening.
