Losing Streak for Libel Suits Against Terror Critics

In recent years radical Islamists have attempted to silence academics, reporters, and citizens by suing them for defamation. But three recent legal cases (involving the Islamic charity KinderUSA, the Islamic Society of Boston, and the six clerics known as the “flying imams”) indicate that this approach may be backfiring. The outcomes of these lawsuits, according to Judith Miller, signify victories for “the free flow of information on which an informed citizenry and effective counterterrorism depend.”
