In this article Thomas Toch and Kevin Carey take a whack at the canard that “America’s higher education system is the envy of the world,” arguing that while graduate education does excellent things, undergraduate education is often of little value. No new data here, but it’s useful to hear the truth that many students just coast through college and obtain a degree without learning much.
