Today’s Pope Center piece is by Charles C. Nickerson, who writes about the way the Board of Higher Education in his state has been turning a blind eye to the requirements of a statute. The Board is supposed to assess student learning, but instead of following the law, which specifies precise and comparable evaluations along the lines of the Collegiate Learning Assessment, it has instead adopted a useless state to state comparison procedure.
