Meet Your Dorm Mates: Adam, Eve, & Steve

This fall, champions of mixed-gender housing finally won out as Yale became the last Ivy League university to institute some form of the practice.

The administrators who proudly instituted this change have shown us that they are far too “modern” to adhere to the stuffy old mores of the past. And some had a specific ideological agenda to promote. For example, one of the forces behind this policy change was Yale’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Cooperative — a student group that holds fast to the idea that gender is a social construct.

Once upon a time, when a guy visited a girl’s dorm, he had to leave by 10 o’clock. But these days, at many schools, he may have the option to simply move his bed into the room.

Nathan Harden — Mr. Harden graduated from Yale in 2009. He is currently writing a memoir of his experiences as a conservative student at Yale.
