More on “Accomodating” Muslims

George Leef calls attention to Katherine Kersten’s piece on exaggerated “accomodation” of Muslims at the Minneapolis Community and Technical College.  “Welcome and accommodation are the order of the day for the college’s more than 500 Muslim students,” writes Kersten. The college has consulted with local Muslim leaders to show itself “hospitable” to these students.
But when it comes to Christianity, the college bends over backward to avoid any trace of support for the religion. Last Christmas, for instance, it scotched any public display of holiday cheer, such as Christmas music or department Christmas cards.
Double standard? Sure seems so. As Kersten concludes, “It’s hard to imagine the college researching and paying for special modifications to the college to facilitate Christian rituals.”
