More on the High Cost of Football

My recent post drew this response:

The same thing happened here at CSU-Sacramento for our first home game (the only game they won, so the local paper made a lot of the brilliant prep of making the students feel special by staying in the HIlton); in context, we are slashing academics $2,000,000 a year each of the next three years and we spend about the lowest total amount per student of any 4 year school in the country.
We are also building a $10,000,000 field house for athletic offices. The news stories on both note that we can’t compete in division 1 unless we do. This begs the question for all sane people of course. Andrew Hertzoff Assistant Professor Dept. of Government CSU-Sacramento
