Most HS grads unprepared for college

That’s the finding of a new study by ACT — only one in four HS grads who took a college prep curriculum met the ACT college readiness benchmarks in English, math, reading and science. Almost 20 percent didn’t meet even one of the benchmarks. Inside Higher Ed has the story.
Even though these students are not prepared for college, the vast majority of them enroll anyway. Most schools will coddle them along to a degree in something that doesn’t call for any knowledge of math or science and minimal language and reading skills.
