Multi-Million-Dollar Chicken Feed

The New York City Department of Education, in a no-bid contract, shelled out up to $12.5 million to pediatrician and accused sexual abuser Melvin Levine of Harvard. And for what? For Levine’s touchy-feely (by all appearances) “All Kinds of Minds” program for training Big Apple teachers to “demystify” their students.

But who among the city’s education chieftains cares about $12.5 million? Does the program work? No evidence? Who cares? The volume of no-bid contracts is more than $300 million. In this context, $12.5 million is chicken feed.
