A week or so ago, I posted a piece about the rejection of a retired Air Force general for a faculty position simply because leftists feel good about discriminating against those who are so tainted.
Just yesterday, I received an email from a friend at Northwestern about a remarkably similar case there. Retired army lieutenant general and former ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry had been nominated by Northwestern’s top administrators to head up the Buffett Institute on campus, but lo and behold, some faculty members threw a fit at the idea of having a former military guy around. I suppose I should disclose that Eikenberry and I were grade school classmates. I last saw him ca. 1963.
