Not Waiting For Change

Yesterday a friend directed me to this powerful short documentary, called “We Are Not Waiting,” which capitalizes on the momentum for school reform created by the reception to Waiting for “Superman.” The essential goal of “We Are Not Waiting” is to urge churches to intervene directly into the educational process, by adopting public schools, creating tutoring programs, or even starting schools themselves. In other words, churches don’t have to wait for political reform — they can create the reform themselves, with their own resources.

I obviously don’t believe that college is for everybody (though there is definitely a right way to do college), but it’s clear that our kids often receive truly dreadful public school educations, and those dreadful educations have lifelong consequences.

Watch “We Are Not Waiting.” It’s well worth your time.
