Only liberal students believe in equal rights!

Over the weekend, the Washington Times ran a spotlight of the Network of Enlightened Women (NeW) – a student group that has been profiled on this blog before.  For the most part it was a standard re-hashing of NeW’s origins:  Feed up with the antics of radical feminists on campus, Karin Agness started a conservative women’s book club at the University of Virginia which turned into the first NeW chapter (a student group for conservative women).  The model quickly spread to other campuses around the country.  For conservatives, this is good news.  The radical feminist orthodoxy on campus is being challenged by a student group.  The liberal reaction is more interesting:
“Kim Gandy, president of the National Organization for Women, dismisses [the radical] portrayal of campus feminists and questions whether NeW members truly want women and men to have equal rights.”
Isn’t it interesting that the response to a competing organization is to question their motives?  Gandy goes on to describe NeW’s work as “propaganda.”  You can read the whole article here.
