On Minding the Campus, John Rosenberg has a piece that sharply criticizes an op-ed by University of Pennsylvania professor Adolphe Reed. Reed’s op-ed smears newly appointed Senator Tim Scott and other blacks who don’t show fealty to the Democratic party. Evidently, Reed thinks that every black American should embrace the statist socio-economic agenda of the Democrats and can’t imagine why any would not regard it as being in their interests.
Has Reed ever heard of black scholars who reject statism — scholars such as Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams? I suspect not. Leftist academics are notorious for their narrow-mindedness and unwillingness to examine views that conflict with theirs.
