Profs on Digital Politics

Some professors are fascinated, reports the New York Times, with how the Internet transformed how people received news about this election cycle and politics itself. Prof. Allan Louden, for instance, opines: “No one knows the impact of quasi-permanency on the Web yet, but … the role of gatekeepers and archivists have been dispersed to everyone with Internet access.” And Prof. Henry Jenkins says, “I think that this time around, campaigns got used to the fact that anything that they put out there could be pirated, remixed, mashed-up and recirculated. It is a much more rapid environment.”
