Donating the difference between the professors’ preferred higher tax rates and the rates that will be on the books to charity is not necessarily a wash. Because charitable contributions reduce taxable income, following the plan at giveitbackforjobs.org may actually result in less taxes paid by the individual.
In essence, the response to their stance that taxes are too low is to advocate a program that appears to further lower an individual’s taxes.
