Peter optimistically celebrates the funding stream proposed in the Higher Education Act for the American History for Freedom Program. It is a premature and perhaps shaky leap of faith, however, to assume that future DOE overseers of these moneys won’t divert them away from the “fair-minded” study of Western civilization and the hiring of “traditionalist scholars” — all in the name of “supporting” these neglected studies.
