Maybe, in order to protect against such litigation, colleges and universities will take to putting a warning label on their catalogues and other printed material.  Something like this.  Warning: graduation from this institution will not guarantee that you will acquire basic competency in such fundamental skills as reading and writing.
Professor Lake’s comment about the skills of college graduates these days is priceless.
