Re: Interdisciplinary Studies

Dr. Camplin’s essay was well done, but there is another angle to interdisciplinary studies: Isn’t higher education itself interdisciplinary? Ideally, by the time students have reached higher education, they should be competent in mathematics, history, composition, etc. In turn, they bring this basic, multidisciplinary training to college and study subjects at a deeper level.

Of course, the sad reality is that students arrive at college unprepared for higher learning. Thus, interdisciplinary studies occur predominantly when students take remedial writing to hopefully write a coherent history paper.
